Founded in 1963, affiliated to CBSE, Senior Secondary School, Sector VII, is a co-educational institution run by Bhilai Steel Plant, providing education from Secondary to Senior Secondary level (Class IX to XII; Science & Commerce streams at Senior Secondary level).

Holding a pre-eminent position in the educational set-up of Bhilai, the school has a long and glorious history of producing meritorious and talented students who have won accolades not only in academics but also in sports and other extra curricular activities at the national level. Especially reputed for the sizeable number of its students qualifying in prestigious All India entrance exams like JEE NEET/CLAT /NDA/NIFT, it can justifiably boast of having built over the years, a worldwide alumni of distinguished people excelling in various walks of life.

The school currently has 912 well-disciplined innovative and creative students and a staff of 43 dedicated, experienced and competent teachers besides a small non-teaching staff of 8 supportive and friendlymembers.

The School has modest resources, which include 29 classrooms, an air-conditioned brary having 5,000 books and magazines, Laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Music, Home Science and Engineering Graphics, 3 air-conditioned computer laboratories, Composite lab, and two air-conditioned staffroom. For co-curricular activities the school has a 4.5 acre of playground. For promotion of either developmental activities, which the school has done with an appreciable record, it has the Air Wing of NCC, Ethics Club, Eco-Club, Scout-Guide activities, Red Cross wing and a Language Club.

With SAIL-BSP management declaring it a Model School, the school’s infrastructure has been expanded and modernized. In addition to this, the school has a three storied laboratory block, a two storied activity block, and a two storied Administrative block. A workshop and a canteen have been constructed along with the landscaping and upgrading of the playground which is still in process. The existing facilities of the school have been modernized which will facilitate in delivering quality education to the students.
